I had fun dyeing more wool rovings this week. They are made from a really soft wool from South America called Punta wool, named after the region in Chile where the wool comes from. The seaport the wool ships out of, Punta Arenas, is on the southern tip of South America.
The first set of rovings I dyed to match my favorite Sunset slipper-socks. The colors also remind me of a Popsicle we used to buy from the ice cream man. I can't remember what it was called, maybe a Rainbow Push Up or was it something like Fantasia. I've decided to name the roving Sedona Sunset because my dad loved the sunsets in Arizona and his favorite town was Sedona.
The second roving makes me think of the flowers in a garden on a Spring Morning.
The third set of rovings remind me of the Maroon Bells, which are two maroon colored mountain peaks near Aspen Colorado. There is a nice oil painting by Jocely Naudette on her website: http://www.jocelynaudette.com/MaroonBells-1.jpg
